Tour Description

In Naples there are still preserved parts of the enclosure walls, dating back to the Aragonese period, as well as gateways entering into the city.  One of the gateways is the beautiful Porta Capuana which is decorated with a Renaissance bas-relief and is from the same period as the Church of S. Caterina in Formiello. The Castle Capuano is even more ancient and dates back to Norman times. Not far away from this area, you arrive to the Ospedale della Pace and the Church of Pio Monte della Misericordia, which houses one of the three masterpieces in Naples by the famous Italian painter Caravaggio, titled “The Seven Acts of Mercy.”
